e-Tunai Rakyat

In a significant move to uplift the economy, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has declared that 10 million adult Malaysians will receive RM100 each, credited directly into their e-wallets. This financial boost is aimed at citizens earning an annual income of RM100,000 and below, and will primarily benefit those in the B40 and M40 categories.

Speaking at the launch of ‘Madani Economy: Empowering the People’ at the Securities Commission, Anwar stated that the overall funds for this facility would total to about RM1 billion. This initiative was proposed to aid the less fortunate Malaysians and contribute to a more inclusive national economy.

This is not the Malaysian government’s first taken such an initiative. Last month, it started an e-cash credit programme, the e-Tunai Belia Rahmah, which involved distributing RM200 to some two million youths aged 18 to 20. This programme was allocated a total of RM400 million.

Today’s announcement comes as a result of the successful implementation and impact of the e-Tunai Belia Rahmah programme. With these initiatives, the government aims to empower its citizens economically and promote financial inclusivity. The e-wallet credit scheme is expected to be a significant step towards achieving that goal.

Stay tuned for more updates as we closely monitor how this initiative rolls out and its subsequent impact on the Malaysian economy.
