Pahang state-specific holidays

  • Sultan of Pahang's Birthday (30 July 2026): honours Sultan Abdullah Ahmad Shah, who is also the current Yang di-Pertuan Agong (16th Agong, 2019-present). Date moved to 30 July effective 2019 from the previous 24 October.
  • Hari Hol Almarhum Sultan Ahmad Shah (22 May 2026): commemorates the death anniversary (22 May Islamic calendar adjusted) of the late Sultan Ahmad Shah, father of the current Sultan and 7th Agong of Malaysia.
  • Nuzul Al-Quran (11 March 2026): commemorates the revelation of the Quran on the 17th of Ramadan. Observed by Pahang, Kelantan, Perlis, Selangor, and Federal Territories.

Sultan of Pahang as Yang di-Pertuan Agong

Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah was installed as the 16th Yang di-Pertuan Agong on 31 January 2019. His 5-year term concluded in January 2024, after which Sultan Ibrahim of Johor became the 17th Agong (31 January 2024). Pahang's state birthday holiday and the federal Agong's Birthday (1 June nationwide) are separate observances, and Pahang residents enjoy both.
