What is eMadani?
The eMadani initiative is a Malaysian government program that provides eligible Malaysian citizens with a one-time RM100 e-wallet credit. This initiative was announced as part of the MADANI Economy: Empowering the People framework on July 27, 2023. The eMadani program aims to offer financial support to Malaysian citizens who fall under the B40 and M40 income categories.
To qualify for the eMadani program, individuals must be Malaysian citizens, at least 21 years old, and either a recipient of the STR (presumably a social assistance program) or have declared an annual income of RM100,000 or less with the Inland Revenue Board (IRB) by July 15, 2023. The registration period for the eMadani e-wallet credit began on December 4, 2023, and continued until February 20, 2024, while the credit itself can be utilized up until February 29, 2024.
The eMadani credit can be redeemed through four designated e-wallet service providers: MAE by Maybank, Setel, ShopeePay, and Touch ‘n Go. The program is expected to benefit about 10 million eligible adult Malaysian citizens. The e-credit provided through these e-wallets can be used for online transactions, including additional benefits like vouchers, cashback, and discounts offered by the e-wallet providers.
