Two days ago, Kho King, the founder of BlogMalaysia, mentioned about reaching our target of 800 blogs in the directory before 1st June 2008. I would like to sincerely thank all bloggers who had submitted their blogs to our blog listing directory, which make it possible for reaching our target of 800 over blogs!

Today, our directory has an amount of 809 blogs! Just before 1st June. And of course, to ensure quality links, we have to disapprove some blogs which do not meet the entry requirements. We notice that some bloggers submit their blogs without fully understanding the entry requirements (rules). We will recompose the rules shortly.
Once again, thank you for your participation in BlogMalaysia directory.

DOT MY (.my) 2nd level domain name is now opened to the public for registration!
You do not need to have a company to register the .my domain. Annual fee for .my registration is maximum RM120, lowest I have seen so far is RM80, depending on resellers.
You can check the domain availability at:
http://www.mynic.net.my
Registration must be done through a reseller. You can see list of reseller in the above link.
As the .my is still new to the public, so many good domain names are still available. Domain is the most valuable asset in the internet nowadays, get a good .my domain and you can be a millionaire overnight!
My Advice
RM80-RM120 per domain is still quite an investment, so don’t just register for the sake of registering. Think carefully, plan on using the domain then only go register it.

I tried Wordpress 2.5 RC1 yesterday. Spent some time to upload and backup my original files.

Again, my main concern and attraction is the multi-upload as told by Wordpress in their latest release. I was hoping to get good and easy way of uploading photos to my blog, as I share a lot of photo at my blog, which makes file uploading an important feature for me.
After installing WP2.5RC1, I have to spent some time to get use to the new interface. I think the orange dashboard is ugly, but nevermind…just personal preference.

I reactivated back all my plugins (I deactivated them before installing the new version), all works without problem except for WP-STATS software I have to re-keyin the API key. No problem, easy job since I have ASKIMET that uses the same key. Just copy and paste and done.
Lightbox plugin works without problem.
Now…I tried with my first post with WP2.5 RC1.
- Typing is easy, posting is no problem.
- I want to upload some photos…how? Yeah…found the new insert picture button. There is an insert video feature too…I wonder how it works…but nevermind for the time-being as I have no video to share.

All of us make mistakes almost every time, including typing. We can type very fast whenever we are going to post something in our blogs. But do you even read once what you have typed?
It is something very common when reading someone’s blog and notice there are several typos. This is a demerit towards the impression of both the blog and the author. Anyone can own a blog and we hardly know who the person is. So, most of the time, we judge a blog owner through his/her words, in other words, the presentation of his/her blog.
Therefore, it is very important for us to avoid as much typos as possible. Your editor may have the auto spell checker. This is a very handy tool and you should make full use of it. Whenever you see a red underline, be sure to double check if that is really a typo. The best way is to preview your post and read at least once to check for any error - grammar or spelling.
Why should we avoid typos?
- Impression wise.
- A more professional feel.
- Avoid misinterpretation or confusion.
- Giving the correct information. Sometimes a single typo can have different meaning.
This is a really good practice that every blogger should follow. Check your post before publishing it. Keep typo occurrence to the minimum.
Happy blogging.

Most bloggers get frustrated when no one visit their blogs or low traffic. The biggest mistake is when you write the most thing that people write. As an example, do you have any idea how many bloggers blog about ‘adsense’? I can say millions! The competition is very high and this makes it harder for others to find your blog especially if your blog is new.
The best thing to do is to write about the latest and the hottest issues and topics. You have to be alert what is happening surround you. This 2-3 weeks, most blogs in Malaysia which blog about the election result and analysis get the most traffic. This is because most of the people are searching for it. It is still something that most bloggers write but considering latest issue, your chance for your blog to be visited is very high especially if you’re among the first to cover the issue.
Playing with keywords are also important. ‘Malaysia Prime minister’ and ‘Pak Lah’ is the same person but the search engine see it as different things. Let say you’re covering the issue of ‘Mukhriz letter to Pak Lah’, if you put your keyword as ’surat Mukhriz’ or ’surat kepada perdana menteri’, both will give you different result and the second one will result in lower traffic. Think of the people who do a search in search engine, of course they will search with more spesific keywords.
The last thing is, go local! If you live in Malaysia, you know better what is happening here. There’s no point for you to write something you don’t really know.
